Kamala Beach - General Information

Kamala Beach is the last developed and more local of the main beaches on Phuket and as such, life is more quite than on the other beaches and generally attracts the more mature visitor. The Beach itself is about 2km long and is ideally suited for families with children, due to the gentle slope and normally without the strong current that can be experienced on some of the other Phuket beaches.

Kamala Beach Road generally comes to live in the evening, when tourists are seen strolling the street choosing between the many Restaurants offering a variety of food, spanning from Thai Seafood and Scandinavian Food to Pizzas. Besides, there are an ever increasing number of small shops offering a variety of goods for sale

Up on the Main Road (leading to Patong - 6km and Surin Beach - 3km) there are further Restaurants and Shops. This is also where the local fresh Market is located twice weekly, where amongst other fresh fruit and vegetables can be purchased at very reasonable prices.

Also, FantaSea the Thai Culture- & Elephant Show is located in Kamala.

A Tsunami warning system has been installed at Kamala Beach.
